Only use intruder alarm companies that are members of one of the regulatory bodies and are "compliant" with police policy. You should verify this with your local CPO that before employing their services.

Speak to people who already have a burglar alarm and ascertain who their suppler was and how satisfied they are with the installation and service.
- Only compliant companies will be able to provide a monitored system with an immediate police response.

Expect C.P.Os. to recommend an intruder alarm company. They may be in a position to refer you to one or two, but they will not be able to offer an opinion as to whether one is better than another. C.P.O.s must be impartial. However, they should be able to steer you away from impending disaster!
This could be the elderly, infirm or even busy and harassed young mums! Do not let them in and ensure that you inform your local police and Trading Standards department that they are working your area.
Be aware that they will often give the impression that they are police approved.
