Do you keep your car in your garage? No? We're not surprised! Like most people, you probably keep about £500 worth of "junk" in your garage, whilst you keep £20,000 worth of car on your drive or in the street! PUT IT AWAY - DON'T GIVE IT AWAY!
|
HERE ARE SOME SIMPLE POINTS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER
TIP 1. - If you buy a security device for your car, such as a steering wheel lock, only buy one that carries the "Sold Secure" approval mark.
TIP 2 - Buy a cover for your car radio, or install a new radio that you can remove.
TIP 3 - If you don't have an immobiliser and an alarm fitted, buy one! Check out "Clifford" or "Secura" alarms
TIP 4 - If you carry high value loads consider installing a smoke generator such as "Smoke Cloak" or Smoke Screen"
AND HERE ARE SOME "DO's & DONT's
DON'T... Leave your car in isolated locations in car parks
DO... Park as close as possible to the attendant (if there is one) and speak to him. Point out your car if necessary.
DON'T... Leave your car insecure on garage forecourts. 100s of cars are stolen this way every week!
DO... Become known as a regular customer at your filling station. That way the staff will associate you with a particular car and will be more likely to alert you to suspicious activity near it.
DON'T... Leave Sat Navs, mobile 'phones, laptop computers, wallets and cheque books, leather jackets or designer clothing in view when you leave your car.
DO... Lock it in the boot.
