A built-in alarm button can summon help and instant voice comms with the worker allows for immediate assessment of the situation. Even the worker's exact location can be pinpointed if they are in real distress.

NEW Wirefree Alarm from YALE that Phones you Up!

Yale have launched a new alarm that phones you when it is activated. Not only that, but by tapping in your PIN, you can actually listen into the premises to verifiy if their are intruders or not. Another few button presses and you can talk to whoever's in the house. Very useful if little Johnny set it off by accident and is having a mild panic attack!!

However, despite their claims that this is a brand new type of system, an alarm with these functions has been available for about two years from RFR electronics at Braintree, Essex.

New Rising Bollards Control Vehicles

Frontier-Pitts have produced a hydraulically operated bollard which will be useful in a wide variety of applications, including anti-ram raid.

The fixed section is bedded into 1.25m of concrete foundation and the raised bollard is available in three heights, from the standard 600mm to 450mm and 900mm.

Retracted, the unit will bear 17 tonnes and when locked in the raised postion it will withstand up to 2000kg downward force.

New Hotel Access System

A new "user-friendly" access control system has been unveiled by NEMEF.

Designed for hotels, hostels universities etc, the system is based on a programmable key card. NEMEF state that it offers a pracical and secure alternative to the conventional key.

The reader unit records the last 400 transactions.

Smart-Red Intruder Detection

Smart-Red, a new "Two-Level" alarm aims to reduce false activations.

A new detector from Security Enclosures aims to  reduce false alarms and maximise the efficiency of CCTV cameras. Smart-Red will activate a "Pre-alarm" to warn an intruder he is in a protected area and under cctv surveillance. If he continues, the Smart-Red sets off a full alarm.

New Style Razor Wire

Traditionally, barbed wire and razor tape are supplied in sprung coils. You will often see great big coils adorning the tops of high fencing and walls.

This style takes up a lot of room and can be cumbersome to install. Now, SIDDALL & HILTON MESH LTD., who manufacture "Razor Barb" security tapes, have produced a new revolutionary design.

The new pattern is only two dimensional which is less obtrusive and does not overhang the fence, roof or gate. The razors are diestamped from galvanized steel strip, formed round a core of high tensile galvanized wire.

It is versatile and can be used for most security applications.

New Mini Dome Camera

Innovative CCTV company SILENT WITNESS have launch their new mini-dome surveillance camera, the V26 Armor Shield.

Suitable for in or outside use, the unit certainly seems to be attack resistant; the makers claim that it will withstand the impact of an 8lb sledgehammer!

New Movement Detector

VISONIC are at it again! Keeping ahead of the field, they have launched a new dual technology movement detector. Called Logica, the unit uses VISONIC'S patented "True Motion Recognition" processing.

The great thing about this detector is that it includes a programmable counter that notches up events as they happen. This improves catch performance and reduces false alarms caused by spiders, thunderbugs and other pesky creepy-crawleys, notorious for setting off alarm systems.

Fuzzy  CCTV pictures and blurry action could soon be a thing of the past thanks to AMOURCOTE'S latest new product.

Ever since spiders discovered that those nice hooded camera housings provided a safe, sheltered, haven in which to spin their webs, CCTV systems have been plagued by annoying arachnids.

Now a new weapon has arrived: Arachnicote 7000, a non-stick, low friction coating that prevents the spiders from hanging around long enough to build a web. Spiders do not have sticky feet like many insects so this new product works simply by preventing it from getting a grip on the surface of the housing.

Having taken a tumble, and nursing a sore head, the tortured tarrantula has to look elswhere for a suitable site....Probably the camera next door that hasn't been coated with Arachnicote!
